Coolant flows from the process to a coil in the cooling tower. Because the coolant system is closed, all components in the cooling loop remain clean and corrosion-free without filtration or chemical treatment, guaranteeing optimum heat transfer. Water in the sump of the cooling tower is sprayed over the coils and the fans are cycled on as needed to provide evaporation. The latent heat of vaporization cools the glycol well below the ambient.
